Doing the dance x

I remember as a child watching Saturday matinees at my grandparents house. All the grand children were there on Saturday as all the parents had shops at that time. I have so many fond memories of Saturdays and how my grandmother was such a figure head in the family. She would tell us all stories of how it was back in her day. It was mesmorising being transported back in time to an era. Wow she was glamourous and such a catch for my grandfather. I remember a boyfriend she hads parents refused marriage to their son because of her perfectly polished nails, make-up and hair!! So here she was with a houseful of grandchildren after raising 7 children! I empathise and admire her life. The gift of storytelling she had was inspiring.

I remember one Saturday we sat down to watch the black and white matinee with commentary from our gran. An Irvin Berlin Classic with Ginger Rogers & Fred Astaire Top Hat 1935. In 1939 my gran was 14yrs and working as a chambermaid in a very grand hotel of that era. She described American guests and what they wore how they danced and how the staff would copy and learn the dances and watch them in the ballroom, she remembered the songs from Irvin Berlin that were copied by the resident hotel band. So as kids we had a glimpse of how life was then. So we sat watching the film Top Hat and I just loved it... for the romantic notions and undertones, the styles and grace it had. Fred and Ginger just had a chemistry with their dance routines that couples dancing in that time couldn't copy or come close too. Isn't uniqueness inspiring?

I'm reflecting and drawing parallels today with my Escorting life. Our male clients getting ready for the dance with sex preparing for their moment of pleasure and how as an Escort their is that excitement and preparation process too. That transformation that happens, being transported to a world unique as it is for whatever length of time and for it to end. That moment is gone. Another experience gained. Glowing with the residue of two peoples chemistry now the dance is over. Then the process starts over again.

I just got an invitation through the mail

"Your presence requested this evening

It's formal Top hat, white tie and tails"

Nothing now could take the wind out of my sails,

Because I'm invited to step out this evening

In top hat, white tie & tails

Oh I'm putting on my top hat,

Tying up my white tie,

Brushing off up my tails.

I'm doodin' up my shirt front

Puttin' in my shirt studs

Polishing my nails.

I'm stepping out, my dear,

To breathe an atmosphere

That simply reeks with class

And I trust

That you'll excuse my dust

When I step on the gas

For I'll be there...

Puttin' down my top hat

Mussin' up my white tie

Dancing in my tails.

My grandmother recently in her late 80's shared with me a dream. I believe it was a fantasy of what to her would be erotic...not that I would tell her my interpretation. I just listened to her and felt privilaged to share the moment as each is valuable with her. I was over staying with her and was uo early and took to her room in the morning ; a cup of tea (china cup) and toast with her homemade marmalade. I watched her sleep and gentle brought her too, proping up her pillows. She shared with me her dream...eyes young and bright with a lifetime of learnings. I was reminded again of her youth as her time will not be long on this earth. She started humming a tune and said in her dream she danced all night with Fred Astaire and how wonderful that was for her. She described what they both wore and how he picked her out of all the women he could have had and how she felt about that. How close they danced and how not a foot went wrong. So our morning song that I helped her with the words were:

Heaven...I'm in heaven

And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak

And I seem to find the happiness I seek

When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek

Heaven...I'm in heaven

And the cares that that hung around me through the week

Seem to vanish like a gamblers lucky streak

When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek

Oh I love to climb a mountain

And to reach the highest peak

But it doesn't thill me half as much

As dancing cheek to cheek

Oh I love to go fishing

In a river or a creek

But I don't enjoy it half as much

As dancing cheek to cheek

Dancing with me! I want my arms about you

The charms about you

Will carry me through to...

Heaven...I'm in heaven

And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak

And I seem to find the happiness I seek

When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek.
