Double Life?

Double lives, something I find really fascinating, exciting and creative. Its akin to having a secret. We all have parts of ourselves we don't share or reveal. Its an invisible presence in everyone's life. If we gave those parts a voice, what would it say about us?
I also believe we all have traits, habits, interests that would be considered different to another or strange. An illusion versus reality? Who else feels living a double life is part of their existance? Does it compliment and live alongside? It does have firm roots in our society, so is it natural?

Public figures, friends and family can surprise us when we learn about misbehaviour or strange habits, in other ways we're not surprised at all. We see so much sensationalised scandals in newspapers and T.V. we become normalised. We are also shown political correctness and those in power telling us what is the norm and laws state how we should be living our lives, there are grey areas in all of this.
The balance then of the power between the secret and the secretkeeper is always in a flux of negotiation. We can't live with them or without them.

I recently spoke with an Escort contemplating retirement due to how she described her double life. The boundary was very cloudy for her. She felt she could not cope with living a lie and the two worlds were colliding. There was an internal struggle to be more authentic. There was ultimately an issue around self acceptance as we discovered some of the facets in her life i.e. being a mother wasn't all she was, her business wasn't all she was or an escort etc etc. Integrating this and understanding all these parts and their roles shape who she is.

Anyway off I go on a tangent. I find in my contemplation living a "double life" is a journey in itself, brings creativity and learning's. Long may I have the courage to explore my life and what's hidden and dancing around on the surface. Life can be extraordinary, a map with no compass x

Being single its easy for me to lead a double life. My alter ego Penny has given me many adventures that I wouldnt have had in civvy life. I have a lot to thank her for, the people I have met, the places I have been and the experiences I have had.

Im also able to tell a chosen few in my life what I do, and that also makes it a bit easier for me. Though we have to make sure we choose the right people to tell, and that can be tricky.

Keep blogging Crista.

Hugs
